Clean It Up!
I’ve always found that spending some time away from my day to day world allows me to think through some stuff. It gives me time to read. It gives me time to study. Time to evaluate. And, time to listen. Last summer I felt I needed to unclutter my crazy schedule and now I think it’s time to take it a step (or ten) further. Being outside the fish bowl allows me to see how dirty the water actually is. So, Operation Clean It Up is starting (yes, I know. I missed my calling in marketing with this super creative name I just came up with). I had to give it a name because I deeply enjoy watching my kids roll their eyes every time I say it. Especially when I combine it with horrible words like ‘cleaning’ and ‘no junk food’.
What this means for myself and my little family is that we are going to look at all aspects of our life- food, cleaning products, waste, possessions, spending, activities, media, clutter, etc…. and clean it up. Unclutter. Minimize. Make it healthier. You get the point.
I’m going to document these little “projects” here.
So, besides getting to read my random musings, you can watch us as we go through this. The good, the bad, and the certainly ugly.
We are on day 1 of our first little project. No sugar. Yup, I chose death to start with.
It was an easy one to choose because after coming home from Christmas vacation (where we most certainly overdosed on sugar and all other forms of food happiness), we had ZERO food at home besides condiments. I had to grocery shop anyway. So, why not?!
I’ll update in a few days with what it all entails and how we are doing. If I don’t, you’ll know we committed mass suicide from our lack of sugar or the sheer snippetyness we will surely get from each other. Pray.
I’ve already had protesting from a certain 5 year old “What?! No milk?! What did milk ever do to you? Milk makes us happy. We love it and it loves us. I looooooove sugar!”
We’re starting off well.
